Allan Hess for County Commission District 2

Building a County That Looks Out for Each Other

MY PRIORITIES

I support a county-supported mentoring effort that connects students with trusted adults through churches and community organizations already serving families. Mentors would spend one hour a week building relationships, offering guidance, and helping kids grow in confidence and responsibility. To honor those who commit their time to our kids, mentors would be recognized through a shared meal and modest stipend a simple way build community and to show appreciation for showing up consistently.

I support a voluntary summer employment partnership where:

  • The county helps cover part of a teen’s wages

  • Local small businesses cover the rest

  • Teens gain real-world job experience and skills

  • It’s practical, affordable, and benefits our whole community.

As County Commissioner, I commit to:

  • Listening before making decisions

  • Communicating clearly about what the county is doing

  • Bringing people together to find solutions that work for everyone Good government starts with trust.

About Me

I’m a lifelong Madison County resident and a teacher with over 10 years of experience working with students and families.
I’ve served as a Sunday school teacher, ESL volunteer, youth mentor, and preacher. Teaching ESL has taught me how to serve the most vulnerable in our community by listening, showing empathy, and stepping into other people’s shoes. It has also brought joy into my life through learning about other cultures and building meaningful relationships.
Last year, I started a mentoring program called Men of Integrity for 7th and 8th grade young men. The goal was to teach respect, responsibility, and strong values. Over time, I saw real change students growing in character, confidence, and how they treated others. Because this work involved minors, I don’t use photos but the impact was real and lasting.
I previously served as a Tennessee Education Association Building Representative, helping coworkers stay informed and supported. That experience shaped my belief that leadership starts with service.
Preaching is another passion of mine, especially with youth. As 1 Corinthians 13 reminds us, if we do good things without love, it means nothing. That principle guides how I treat people with grace, patience, and understanding.
That’s the approach I’ll bring to County Commission.
